Runway Cycling and Skating

Went for my 45km cycling event at Paya Lebar Airbase today. Quite a day i guess. The event start 830am but my buddy nad i rch thr super early, like 715am. Reason being we were late when we attend the same event 2 yrs back and this yr, we kiasu a bit, so rch quite early.

Comapring my two experience in the events, i think the OCBC one was much more fun. Held in the city, had more things to see. The Runway gt nothing to see. Just trees, grasses and more of them and of course, the runway. To complete 45km, we need go 3 rds. Quite sianz....

Also, my bike. I think the OCBC one quite small alr but the SAFRA one !! The handle too low lo. I gt shoulder ache after completing the 45km. I stop at 2 water pts during the 45km and stretching the shoulder muscles is much more impt than taking the water.

But of course, the 45 km more siong than the OCBC one. Had more sense of achievement than when i complete my OCBC Cyclethon. Now my butt and calf muscles, not forgetting my shoulder muscles, ACHE. Think the free SALONPAS patch comes into good use.

I know i a bit siao but was thinking about entering the SAFRA Quadrathon leh. Need 4 pax to enter. One to swim, one to Skate, one to Cycle and one to run. Ok, i cant run for nuts but i don mind participating in the cycle portion. Anyone wan join ?

Cheap Cheap Food

Went to have steamboat dinner with my buddy yesterday night. Tried this shop at Kaki Bukit Ave 1. The price is only $9.90nett. Yes! No gimmicks. Just tat its is in a non aircon kopitiam. Drink are another price altogether. Food variety not much but the basics are there. Good for when u no money but VERY VERY HUNGRY.

Yes, going for the event ltr. Taking part in the 45km cycling event.

And, i am not asleep yet. Actually,slept ard 12 but woke up at 430. Don know wat happen. Now trying desperately to go sleep. Siao liao... How to survive 45km?

As mentioned in my earlier posting, i went with my NIE Khakis to JB to makan... the seafood still as nice as ever... Woo hoo... All these dishes for about $20 Singapore dollars for pax...

Outing 2

Ok. I think i fell in love with prawning liao...

Nxt tue i gt NIE fren outing again. Yes, we jus went last week to JB. but nvm la, long time nvr see alr, so mit up 2 times during the holidays lo.

I suggested Pawning again!!! lol... Ya, but this time at different place: Punggol Marina Club. Wah... Even i was shocked. Country Club gt this kind of things... ALso i called and to my surprise, they accept outside food.

We alr decided:
Matt: Taiwan Sausage, Cheese Sausage, Normal Sausage & Chilli Sauce
Irwin: Chicken Fillet & BBQ Sauce
Yan Ni: Satay and Otah

Ya, onli 3 if us tentatively. But ok la, noramlly i also onli go out with the two of them. Haha... Though that time go JB gt Samantha as well.

Ok, keep a look out for updates on the outing.

Outing

Did my very first wedding banquet emcee job during Ivy's wedding and got to know this bunch of people. They org a bros and sis gathering. Though i was not one of the bros, i still went la as i was invited.

Actually, i was a bit apprehensive about going for this trip. People who know me well will know that i am difficult to make new friends. With people that i am unfamiliar with, i am usually quiet and might seem to people as 'dao' as i don take the initiative to talk to people. But heck care la... I need to break out of my comfort zone and hence, went for this outing.

Its was a prawning outing, at the Bishan Golf Drive Range there. The last time i went prawning, was when i was in pri sch. I remember it was boring. Hence, this time was a bit like drag myself to go. But ok la, still enjoy it nevertheless...

Starting to prawn.... Rent the pole out. $30 for 3 hours. At first i was thinking how am i gg to survive 2 hrs as i onli book 2 hrs. But time seems to pass, when i caught my prawns.

Yeah, my very first prawn caught. Not bad leh. Felt quite elated when i caught it. haha...


In total caught 3 prawns. Too bad the first prawn came a bit too late. I had a bet with Hui Yi 2 and Ivy that whoever caught the first prawn had to pay the other party $10. iaoz... They caught it first lo, with eggs inside the prawn somemore. Sianz... Lost $10.

ONe stupid part was to unhook the prawn from the hook once u caught it. Had a hard time unhooking it. Hence, i jus pull the entire hook from the prawn's mouth. Ya, do you also know u had to break off the prawns two 'claws' so that they don cut the net that they are placed to when u catch them.


A pic of all the prawns we all caught. This is NOT what I CAUGHT. About 10 of us, onli caught abt 20 prawns.... A bit sia suay.... haha... Even the boss gave us a look of surprise when he was told the number of prawns we caught with that many rods we rent.


Toi cook the prawns, you need to out them into salt water so that they will die.


Nxt, we need to push the stick into the prawns so that we can BBQ it properly.


Don now why but like the outlook of this particular prawn.

After the eating of prawns, we went to AMK Park Mac to hang ard. Talk cock a bit and that really when i get to know the others a bit more. Found out that "金毛" actually went Japan for 13 days and spent SGD$3500. Seems not a bad deal. Wait for him to send me the itinary before deciding whether wan out it in my toilet paper or not.

When we wan to leave Mac, we suddenly realised that we nvr take grp photo. So we took it outside Mac lo.

Laos Overseas Service Learning Project


Date of service: 5 - 19 Dec 2009

15 days: 11 working days, 4 R&R days

Nature of project;
1. Painting of Wall Murals
2. Repairing of children playground
3. Smoothening of concrete playground
4. Teaching of Basic English Conversation
5. Teaching of soft skills (Eg. Games)
(*Note. We might not be doing all things. These are just some of the things that we can do for them.)

Commitment level: At least 1 meeting per month
From Mid-November onwards, might be weekly meetings

Work Scope:

Pre Expedition
1) Canvassing for funds
2) Preparation for Laos Expedition
3) Pre-Expedition Project to be done in Singapore
4) Contributing of ideas in meetings

Expedition
1) Team will break out into Sub-groups to do different things

Post-Expedition
1) Post-Expedition project to be done in Singapore
2) Project Report


Cost: Approx total cost /pax is $1400 (without subsidy)

(*Note. National Youth Council will subsidize 50% of your allowable cost if you are between the age group of 15 to 35 years old. Of course, if we can canvass more funds, then the amount of money that we need to pay will be lower. This cost is based on the approximate amount. Prices are subject to increase in airport taxes and fuel surcharge. )

(*Note. The cost is relatively higher as compared to projects in China and Thailand. This is due to the fact that there is no direct flight from Singapore to Laos and hence, we will need to take transit flights in Thailand and a domestic flight in Laos. Also, the infra-structure in Laos is not that advanced. Hence, we need to pay more.)
