The Road Of Lost Innocence

Recently read the above mentioned book.

It was about the life story of a young Cambodian village girl who was sold into prostitution so many times over and over again. She was described as dark and ugly but was still sold into brothels. As she re encounters her story, i could almost imagine her fear when she was being punished. Can u imagine her fear when a young child (perhaps 8/9 years old) was pushed into a cage of snakes and maggots just because she refused to serve those clients tat came to her for sex. A few times, she was sewn up without any medication so that she can be sold as a high price as a virgin. HOw cruel is tat?

Personally, I have seen street children in Cambodia. Their lifeless eyes, their tired bodies, their worn feets... Compare them with the poor children in Spore. In my opinon, at least Spore govt tries to help those who are poor. But in Cambodia, there are just too many street children up thr whom the govt cant reach out to. There are just too many of them. Vividly, I can still recall one scene i saw. There was this lifeless toddler who was cradled by the mother. Her eyes were big and open. But i don see hope in them. Happen to have a fly that came by her eyes. She doesnt even wave them away. SHe just doesnt move....................
