Cheapo Fine Dining
Hi Guys
This cafe is worth trying. Esp students and new working adults, tis is a muz try. Cos it cheap and the food is good. Wan to impress ur gf or celebrate your impt someone's B day? Tis is the place. Wan to find a place to chill? Tis place is cool.
Tried the food there today. I tried the duck's leg, Quek tried the fish and KT tried the lamb shank! It was good! Except for the fish, i didnt really love it. The prawn bisque is nice too. Can taste the freshness of the prawns in every spoon of the soup.
The drink is nothing to compare of but the main thing is the food! Outdoor and indoor dining is both good. Indoor ambience is better though u might smell the food cooking and hence, stain ur clothes. Outdoor is windy (depends on the weather though) but might smell car petrol as there is a car mechanic shop nearby and the outdoor dining area is very near the road.
Tis cafe is defintely not for pple who are:
1) Looking for cheap food tat come in bulk
2) Looking for buffet where there are lots of things to choose from at a fixed price
3) Fussy people as the food option is quite limited
4) People who hv some comments abt tan skin people
5) People who cant wait too long for their food (we waited 45min at least)
Try it! oh ya. If u wan try it, drop me a line! It very close to my house, so i wan to try it again, hahah.....
Went to NTU CAC String Orchestra concert yesterday at the NAFA wif my buddy. a bit sianz cos i don think gt profeesional enough. Quite a bit sloppy and seems to me like training ground b4 they move up to NTU Symphony Band concert, haha... After which, we went to the 24hr food centre @ Bugis (beside Apollo Hotel).
Seems to me tat they went thru a renovation. As usual, like other renovated hawker centre, the food doesnt taste as good anymore. The hokkien mee was ok. The sting ray was nice. But the rojak is damn sianz lor. nvr ate such "lan" rojak b4. Forgt to take photo and place in my blog. Also, the chix wing (as in the pic above). First time i eat BBQ chix woing and don feel like finishing it cos it suz BIG time! Remember, if u r really hungry and u don feel like spending much. Order one of the chix wing in tat hawker centre. You will save lots of $$$$$.
Brought my BB boys out for a Childrens' Day party @ St Andrew Cathedral today. The party was quite nice. can see tat my boys enjoyed themselves totally. Then throughout the party, gt one boy came and sit nxt to me. haha... the small guy in the pic above lar. Throughout the service, he was telling me his family and his dreams. I think the 2 hrs there, he told me his whole family stories. Quite cute. He even ask if he could sit on my laps so tat he can have a better view. At first i was quite apprehensive abt it as his paretns might think i am a maniac or wat.... Then i think, nvr mind la. Cant be so suay... haha... His parents even came up to me after the service to thank me for looking after their boy... Diaoz... Win liao lor. They sit on top, i sit below to look after their 6 yr old boy. haha.. But it fine with me. Its kids like tat tat brightens up my day.
The secind pic is the boys tat i brought to the Cathedral today. Not bad la. Behaved themselves quite well generally. Nice bunch of kids.

My Fav class
These are my kids from 4 Gentleness, my fav class.. THe previous teacher, Mrs Loh, my fav teacher as well, reminded me of this class bahaviour. She said that the behaviour was bad, esp for some students. Hence, the first impression i gave them was that i am very very fierce. haha..
Who knows, they are my fav class now. I nvr dread gg into that class.. THey seem to be one of the motivation why i go into teaching. I don mind doing extra things for them to enjoy, spending extra $$$ on them.
One of the surprises they gave me was abt 2 month ago... When i was teaching one of the chn words to them, i suddenly asked them to check out the meaning instead of me explaining to them. I nvr imagine that they would automatically moved their chairs to face one another and discuss the meaning in their individual grp, even without me telling them so. They took out wat ever resources they have and shared amg their own grp members. Surprises nvr end... After they check out the meaning, they actually moved their chairs to face me and the grp leader raised up their hand... Wow wow wow!!! Nvr really expect it. When i asked them to check out the meaning, i was expecting chaos... But their actions really proved me otherwise...
Children's Day!!
Yesterday we celebrated Children's Day in my school. was quite fun. All the lvls of teachers have to come up with a performance each. Was quite entertaining. haha.. i think all the kids hav fun. i don think they can imagine how the stern looking fierce teachers can actually play like them too, haha.. Or even worse than them. haha.. Suraiya (the teacher in the pic above) acted as Jack Black the pirate.. haha.. So funny. Suriaya is one of the teachers i can joke ard in the staff room. I call her "Suria Channel" as her name was initially quite difficult to remember. Even now as i remembered her name, i jus call her "Suria Channel" for the fun of it. To get back at me, she called me "Di Ba Po Dao", haha.. She damn one kind. haha.
I think my kids aka students also enjoyed themselves. I gave presents to all my 3 classes. Initially, thinking of nt giving anything to my P5 kids cos they are my worse class... But then, think they will be quite sad if they nvr recieve anything from me. Hence, decide just to give them a correction tape each. But don know why, i buy more and more, then in the end, gave them quite a few things.
Of course, my other two classes gt more things la. They seem to be very happy to recieve presents. ahah. Seeing the joy on their faces, i seem to forget all my anger ... I remembered why i wanted to join this service. The delighted smile on the kids can really brighten up one's day. Above in the pic is wat i gave to them.
Of course, i also gave my tuition kids and their siblings. V funny lor. I went to Daiki's house yesterday to hav tuition. I gave the present to him, his sister and his cousin (cos his cousin always appears in their house. His cousin, with a face of amusement asked me, how come cousin also get presents? haha... I don know wat to reply so i jus said" if you don wan, can give me back lor.." but of course, he didnt return me la..
On the whole, i enjoyed yesterday. The kids smiles and their innocence really bring joy into my life. I hope that my passion for teaching will nvr end. I hope that i will nvr be like those teachers tat always complain abt their students. 10 yrs, no no! 20 yrs down the road, i still wan tat special piece of passion inside me!
Tian Wai Tian
One Sunday evening, my buddy and I went to a coffee shop called "Tian Wai Tian" to have fishhead steamboat.
This restaruant was located at Serangoon Road, near Serangoon Broadway Studio (those grad from NTU & NIE) will know. They are famous for the Fishhead steamboat.
I can remember that in my younger days, my dad use to bring my family and me to the shop to eat. Vaguely, i remembered that we need to wait v long. haha.. tat day, i xin xie lai chao, and went there to try the food again.
This is the first time i see pple queueing up to order food. Can you imagine? I need to queue for 30 min just to place my order. haha... Then the auntie taking order damn snob lor. As i didnt hear her say "what type of fish you wan?", i went again to order other dishes. She actually said v loudly "I said. wat fish u wan?" .... Diaoz........ If nt for the good food, i would have walked away.
Anway, ordered fried chix in prawn paste, fish head steamboat and kang kong with cuttlefish. The chix came quite fast after i ordered, roughly 15min... But then, even after we finish the chix, the steamboat not out yet.. haha... THink we probably waited for 45min (after i placed the order)b4 the steamboat is out.The Kang Kong??? Came after we finished everything.. Quite sianz.... hahah..
But the food there was okie lar. The chix is damn nice. its a MUST MUZ try. The steamboat i think they put a lot of wei jin in it. Quite nice but quite salty too.. The kangkong was nice though it would be better if gt sambal on it. FYI (we didnt ask the auntie to stir fry the kang kong with sambal as HY was sick). Worth trying..
Ju Wei Yuan
1 week ago, i went out with Adrian for dinner at Chinatown. Went to this famous coffee shop in Chinatown called "Chang Cheng Porridge Shop". The food was not bad. I had a Mixed Pig Organ porridge with fried pig intestines. This shop is worth going, except tat the porridge is not thick enough. The location is just at the end of the "Mei Shi Jie" in CHinatown. Sells all types of porridge. If you are craving for porridge and you don mind waiting for 30 min, tat is a good place to go to.
After dinner, we went to "Ju Wei Yuan" in CHinatown. Actually thought of having durians initially but then, seeing the durians on display, i decided otherwise. In Qu Wei Yuan, i ordered almond dessert and an additional chestnut cake. Was enjoying my dessert when i suddenly saw something damn happening..
I saw the staff place a bucket of white stuff near the toilet door. To my astonishment, the stuff in the bucket looked exactly like the almond dessert tat i am having. Adrian told me not to think too much as it might just be leftovers from other customers and the staff was thowing it away. Though i think otherwise, I maintain my composure and continue eating. Then, to my horror! I saw the staff washing STYROFORM plates!!!!! The last thing on earth i would expect in a restaruant was the staff washing styroform plates. Correct me if I am wrong but i thought styroform plates were disposable, as in, eat and then throw????? When adrian and me saw this scene, we immediately stood up and went out of the shop, after paying for the desserts...
Waht a shocking news! I regret not remembering to take a pic of the staff washing the plates........
The nxt wk, I told the whole staff room wat i saw. Ok, at least, i save some pple from eating unclean stuff... Then Auntie Ellen asked me whether wan go with amber and her to "Ju Wei Yuan" for desserts. I was a bit apprehensive @ 1st but then, since the outlet is in Junction 8, i decide tat its hygiene will be much better. Hence, went for it and hmmm...... Enjoyed it very much.
I came to a conclusion tat i would continue to patronise "Ju Wei Yuan" but definetely not the one in CHinatown.

My very First Teachers' Day
A lot of my friends are asking me why i sooooo long nvr update my blog. Hahah... Maybe the work monster has sucessfully prevented me from entering my blog. Don know why so busy also, damn sianz.....
1st September 2007 was the first time i celebrated Teachers' Day as a formal teacher. on the 31st Aug, Went to sch for celebration then went off to Batam.
ON thur, 30th Aug i was still pondering what to get for my collegues.... A sunflower will look nice but i decide agst it based on 2 reasons:
1) Too Ex to buy for 15 teachers
2) Flower to big to bring to sch
Hence,in the end, I bought daisies instead @ $2 per stalk. Though it was cheap, i thought it would be a nice touch to for the teachers.Nxt went to Popular to get vanguard sheets so as to make cards for them as well..
Wah lau.... The queue is damn bloody long. I jus gt a big piece of vanguard sheet and it took me 40 mins to pay for them...Jus a caution guys, nvr go Popular bookstore at 630pm. U too will be cursing and swearing! (yes, I know i am to be a role model for students so how can i swear? But i AM a Ah Beng teacher known to my collegues! So ThERE! Hahah..)
Went home to make the cards.... Tis is another tedious process.... After 3 hrs, i finally finished the cards. Though nothing fanciful( Just cards wif 'Teachers" written in different style), it took me half a black pen and half a red pen to finish all the cards. By the time, i was ready for bed, i was exhausted alr.
31st Aug 2007, went to sch not exactly on time. Recieved many presents fr the kids. After looking thru the presents, I decided. I would strongly encourage my students to buy me red pens and markers if they wan to buy something for me. These 2 things are the most practical stuff to me. Hopefully i can have F.O.C. refill for my stationary every Teachers' Day so I don hav to spend so much money on all these stuff, hahah...
Went to Batam after the celebration in sch.. Will update u all once i get the photos.
